The salt marshes
The Assérac salt marshes are part of the Bassin de Mès and the famous Guérande salt region. These landscapes have been entirely created by man for salt production. They tell the story of a family of salt workers passionate about their work and their region. The exploitation of salt marshes dates back to the Middle Ages. An integral part of the local landscape and culture, they contribute to the region’s ecological wealth. Take a guided tour to observe the 180 species of birds that call the marsh home, or learn about the artisanal production of salt.
