From your campsite stay, the Vélocéan is the perfect option for discovering the beauties of this majestic coastline.

Loire-Atlantique is a department that’s all about nature, so there’s nothing like cycling to make the most of its wide-open spaces. Among the 2,000 km of cycle paths in 44, theVélocéan itinerary has a special charm. It follows the coastline, with sections laid out and signposted, and offers breathtaking views of the coastline.

The Pont-Mahé section of the Vélocéan cycle route is one of the most recent in the 44 region. Follow the cycle route from the mouth of the Vilaine to Saint-Molf in less than 10 km. You’ll already discover some superb scenery, from the magnificent bay of Pont-Mahé to the Bassin du Mès, gateway to the Guérande salt marshes.

Continue on your way and enjoy the diversity of the landscape as you pass Mesquer and the étiers. Piriac-sur-Mer, La Turballe and Le Croisic are just some of the towns to discover along the way, before a stopover in La Baule.

You’ll soon reach the Saint-Nazaire bridge, which can easily be crossed by shuttle bus. On the other side, you arrive at Saint-Brévin-les-Pins, and the scenery gradually changes, with immense pine-fringed beaches, small coves and oyster beds from Pornic onwards.

Your stopover in Loire-Atlantique

Cycling is undoubtedly the best way to explore Loire-Atlantique. It’s a natural département, shaped by the waters. Its 133 km of coastline make it a prime tourist destination, with great beaches like La Baule on the Guérande peninsula.

A stop in the marshes is a must, to discover the salt worker’s trade and the region’s white gold, salt. After a visit to the salt works, take a stroll through the Escoublac forest or take to the waves at one of the water sports centers. You’ll also want to stop off at the ports of Pornichet and Le Croisic to admire the panorama.

The Loire-Atlantique is also a land of moors, canals and bocages. In the Brière Regional Nature Park, just a few minutes from your campsite, board a barge for a trip along the water, then explore the charming thatched cottage village of Kerhinet.

The 44 region also boasts a rich historical and architectural heritage. Close to your campsite with swimming pool in Assérac, the Château de Ranrouët is a magnificent fortress. The medieval town of Guérande is another highlight, as is the characterful city of Batz-sur-Mer.
