What are the most beautiful beaches in Loire-Atlantique?

Imagine… the warm sand beneath your feet, the salty smell of the ocean, the steady lapping of the waves. In Loire-Atlantique, each beach has its own personality: here a quiet corner at low tide, there a large bay animated by the laughter of children. From the Domaine de Pont Mahé campsite, the coastline unfurls like a golden ribbon, ready to welcome your most beautiful vacation memories.

Where to swim on the Atlantic coast?

The Loire-Atlantique is a unique blend of iodized air, sun-warmed sand and inviting waves. Here, you’ll find perfect spots for splashing around with the kids, diving in headfirst or simply floating and admiring the sky. From the Domaine de Pont Mahé campsite, it takes just a few minutes – sometimes just a few steps – to reach beaches that are worth the trip in themselves.

  • Plage de Pont Mahé (Assérac) – 0 km Just down the road, this beach is your vacation neighbor. Its shallow, rapidly warming water makes it a small paradise for families. Children can play in complete safety, while grown-ups enjoy a peaceful swim, gazing out at the sailboats offshore.
  • Pen-Bron (La Turballe) – 18 km Here, the sand stretches as far as the eye can see, bordered by pine trees that give off a sweet, woody scent. It’s the perfect place to take a long walk with your feet in the water, listen to the cries of the seagulls, then plunge into the clear, invigorating sea.
  • Sorlock (Mesquer) – 12 km A more discreet, almost secret beach. Access is via small sandy paths between the dunes. The water is cool, the calm almost total… just the sound of wind and waves. Ideal for a timeless afternoon.
  • Grande Plage de La Baule – 29 km La Baule is a living postcard: nine kilometers of golden sand, colorful cabins, strollers, bathers and a lively atmosphere. People come here to swim, but also to stroll along the esplanade, ice cream cone in hand.

Local tip: if you like peace and quiet, come in the morning. The light is soft and the beaches belong only to the first to arrive.
