Loire-Atlantique is a department that’s all about nature, so there’s nothing like cycling to make the most of its wide-open spaces. Among the 2,000 km of cycle paths in 44, theV\u00e9loc\u00e9an itinerary<\/strong> has a special charm. It follows the coastline, with sections laid out and signposted, and offers breathtaking views of the coastline. <\/p>

The Pont-Mah\u00e9 section of the V\u00e9loc\u00e9an cycle route is one of the most recent in the 44 region<\/a>. Follow the cycle route from the mouth of the Vilaine to Saint-Molf in less than 10 km. You’ll already discover some superb scenery, from the magnificent bay of Pont-Mah\u00e9 to the Bassin du M\u00e8s, gateway to the Gu\u00e9rande salt marshes<\/a>. <\/p>

Continue on your way and enjoy the diversity of the landscape as you pass Mesquer<\/strong> and the \u00e9tiers. Piriac-sur-Mer<\/a>, La Turballe<\/strong> and Le Croisic<\/strong> are just some of the towns to discover along the way, before a stopover in La Baule<\/strong>. <\/p>

You’ll soon reach the Saint-Nazaire bridge, which can easily be crossed by shuttle bus. On the other side, you arrive at Saint-Br\u00e9vin-les-Pins<\/strong>, and the scenery gradually changes, with immense pine-fringed beaches, small coves and oyster beds from Pornic<\/strong> onwards. <\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Your stopover in Loire-Atlantique<\/span><\/h2>

Cycling is undoubtedly the best way to explore Loire-Atlantique. It’s a natural d\u00e9partement, shaped by the waters. Its 133 km of coastline make it a prime tourist destination, with great beaches like La Baule<\/a> on the Gu\u00e9rande peninsula<\/strong>. <\/p>

A stop in the marshes is a must, to discover the salt worker’s trade and the region’s white gold, salt. After a visit to the salt works, take a stroll through the Escoublac forest<\/strong> or take to the waves at one of the water sports centers. You’ll also want to stop off at the ports of Pornichet and Le Croisic to admire the panorama. <\/p>

The Loire-Atlantique is also a land of moors, canals and bocages. In the Bri\u00e8re Regional Nature Park<\/a>, just a few minutes from your campsite, board a barge for a trip along the water, then explore the charming thatched cottage village of Kerhinet. <\/p>

The 44 region also boasts a rich historical and architectural heritage. Close to your campsite with swimming pool in Ass\u00e9rac<\/a>, the Ch\u00e2teau de Ranrou\u00ebt is a magnificent fortress.
